ACCOMODATION + TRANSPORT
The cost of accommodation in the area (including utility bills) is approximately £3,500 to £4,500 over the duration of the course. The Chippendale School is a well known part of the community and we have good relationships with local landlords who offer a range of good value, approved accommodation. For students requiring our help, we are able to introduce you to landlords offering accommodation to suit your preferences. It’s important to us that you enjoy every aspect of your furniture making course, including your living arrangements outside School hours.
There are two accommodation options for either rental or hosted accommodation.
Rented property – either sharing or on your own
Many of our students choose to rent a shared flat/apartment in one of the nearby towns such as Haddington or Gifford. The cost of this accommodation ranges between about £250 and £300 per head, per month. The School also has a network of local landlords who offer two or three bedroom properties suitable for a family, all within a five-mile radius of the School.
The average rent per property is about £540 per calendar month.
Hosted Accommodation – staying with a host family
Over the years the School has built up a network of local host families who offer students a home from home. A comfortable private room with all meals included costs about £500 per month in rent.
If you would like more information about where to stay during the course, please call us on +44 (0)1620 810680 or email us.
The School is close to a nearby town and villages, and some students prefer to cycle to and from the School each day. Others prefer the freedom of hiring a car, particularly if they are living further away. Because we’re situated in the countryside, we are not well served by public transport.
Students wanting to hire a car for the duration of their stay should contact us. We have relationships with a number of companies in the area who rent cars of varying size and specification.
